A Day to Reaffirm Commitment to Workplace Safety – WorkCare

A Day to Reaffirm Commitment to Workplace Safety

Today is Workers’ Memorial Day, reminding us of the significance of WorkCare’s pledge to help employers protect and promote employee health. We applaud our clients who share in this mission. In addition, it relates to one of our philanthropic efforts – contributing through Kids’ Chance of California to college scholarships for children with a parent who is killed or disabled in a work-related incident.

In the past year, nearly 5,000 work-related fatalities, an average of 13 deaths per day, were reported in the U.S.

“While we have made much progress toward safer workplaces, we must do more to ensure that employers understand and take responsibility for addressing workplace hazards and keep them from causing workplace fatalities,” U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh said in a statement today. “As our economy continues its recovery, we are determined to empower workers as well so they can recognize the hazards around them, and demand their rights to a safe workplace without fear of retaliation.”
